3rd - International Nuclear Chemistry Congress

The idea of holding the International Nuclear Chemistry Congress (INCC)  series came to Prof. Turan Ünak of Ege University, Bornova, Izmir, Turkey, President of the International Nuclear Chemistry Society (INCS) on the basis of his reflection concerning a redefinition of the nuclear chemistry “as a large chemistry branch which covers all kind of chemical studies related to the radioactive materials and nuclear radiation and to their applications in different fields of science and technology”.

The first congress at Kusadasi, Turkey during 22-29 May 2005 (1^st-INCC) was organized by INCS in collaboration with Ege University of Turkey. In that ocasion, it was decided that the INCC series would be held every three years around the world. In this contest, the 2^nd-INCC was held in Cancun, Mexico during 13-18 April 2008 (2^nd-INCC) and was organized by INCS in collaboration with  National University of Mexico.  The 3^rd–INCC will be held in Sicily, Italy during 18-23 September 2011 under the leadership of Professor Flavia Groppi of the Università degli Studi di Milano, Facoltà di Scienze, and Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare - INFN.

These Congress always serve as a forum of informal exchange of knowledge for scientists from different subject areas where the use, the production, the investigation or the measurements performed making use of radionuclides and nuclear radiation are contributing significantly to the technical progress. The next Conference will emphasize the multidisciplinary aspects of:

• the production and application of radionuclides in Medicine and Environmental studies;
• the role of the Radiochemistry and Health Physics, that will become more and more important especially in case that new NPPs will be installed and start to run;
• the importance of education and training of the new generations about these themes. In this Conference the younger scientists can debate with the senior researchers in a competition between the innovative aspects and the experience of an entire life of research. 

The technical program will be designed to cover both fundamental and applied aspects of the following themes:

Scientists from all over the world interested in any of these subjects are cordially invited to participate in the 3^rd-INCC in Sicily.
